Meet Ms. Mary

Hi, I’m Mary. My background is in Business and Public Health, but kids are my real vibe! As the biggest kid of all, I'm definitely here for the FUN of it!  

In 2008 I found myself with a very flexible work situation and a desire to work with children, so I headed to my local elementary school to volunteer. They quickly steered me to their substitute teacher program, which got my background check out of the way and got me into the classroom. I guess I didn’t realize how that day would change my life. I did become an MCPS substitute teacher and worked mostly in a French language immersion program for the first eight years. Year nine I branched out to new and different schools, and I was officially hooked! 

By 2019 I’d joined a county afterschool program as a vendor and loved it - so wonderfully different from being with the children during a school day. It was just my favorite part of kids - RUNning, JUMPing, and ROARing - and again, my life was set on a fun, new course. By 2021, I’d started turning my program into a stand-alone company, and in early 2022, Kids ROAR LLC officially launched our Run Jump ROAR! program to great success, immediately partnering with the county. Rolling out our second program offering with Montgomery County Youth Development in Fall 2022, our eyes are turned to the future and our excitement is palpable!
